USA Hockey has posted dates for CEP classes and registration is now open. All Connecticut classes are being held at The Rinks at Shelton 784 River Rd Shelton, Ct 06484

posted 08/19/2010 FIRST STRIDES– FREE! AGES 4-10
First Strides, created by Bauer Hockey, is a FREE Learn-to-Skate program, including equipment,* that provides aspiring players between the ages of 4-10 the opportunity to take their "first strides" in developing an interest in ice hockey. Emphasis is placed on the very basics of skating within a safe and fun environment. It is designed for first-time skaters only. Players who have previously participated in a Learn-to-Skate program should register for the Warriors Learn-to-Play Hockey clinic.
Equipment: *A limited amount of loaner equipment is available on a first come, first served basis. Players will receive a Bauer helmet with full face guard, hockey gloves and skates. We also recommend that players wear shin guards and elbow pads. Discounted equipment packages are also available in the rink pro shop, HockeyGear.com.
Schedule: September 18th-19th & 25th-26th, October 2nd-3rd & 9th-10th (8 sessions)
Times: 8:10 a.m. (Saturdays) 8:25 a.m. (Sundays) Note: An additional session may be added each day immediately following the first session depending on the number of players registered.
Cost: FREE (there is a $30 USA Hockey Registration fee. All players must register with USA Hockey)
LEARN-TO-PLAY HOCKEY CLINIC AGES 4-10
The Learn-to-Play Hockey program is designed to continue to teach boys and girls ages 4-10 proper skating skills introduced in First Strides (or in other learn-to-skate programs) as well as introductory hockey skills. Players must be able to skate forward, get-up after falling, demonstrate some backward movement and an understanding basic stopping.
Equipment: Full equipment is required (helmet with full face guard, neck guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hockey pants, hockey gloves, shin pads, hockey socks, hockey skates and a hockey stick. Discounted equipment packages are available in the rink pro shop, HockeyGear.com.
Schedule: October 16th-17th thru December 18th-19th (excluding Thanksgiving weekend). 18 sessions
Times: 8:10 a.m. (Saturdays) 8:25 a.m. (Sundays) Note: An additional session may be added each day immediately following the first session depending on the number of players registered.
Cost: $250 (non-refundable)
MITE DEVELOPMENT TEAMS AGES 8 & UNDER
The Mite Development teams are for boys and girls 8 and under and are designed for players making the transition from clinic to more team-oriented play as well as returning players who wish to continue their individual and team skills development. A minimum of four teams will play a 20-game regular season schedule of cross/half-ice games against each other as well as other local organizations that will culminate in a playoff for the Patrick Cup (named after league founders Lynn and Lester Patrick). Players must be able to skate forward, backwards and stop.
Equipment: Full equipment is required
Schedule:September 10th-11th-12th thru February 19th-20th-21st (excluding Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years weekends). Play takes place three times a week (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) for 21 weekends.
Times:5:30 p.m. (Fridays), 7:00 a.m. (Saturdays), 7:15 a.m. (Sundays)
Cost:$800
LIGHT TRAVEL (DEVELOPMENT) TEAM AGES 9-12
The Light Travel (Development) team is a newly developed concept providing players between the ages of 9-12 an opportunity to continue developing their skills while playing at a less competitive and more cost-effective level. It is perfect for players in this age group just starting out playing the game or parents looking for a consistent schedule with limited, local travel.
Equipment: Full equipment is required
Schedule: September 11th-12th thru February 20th-21st (excluding Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years Weekends). Play takes place twice a week (Saturday & Sunday) for 21 weekends.
Times: TBD
Cost: $850 (note: Goaltenders at this level do not receive the 50% travel team discount)
